National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Summary

Many of you will graduate into jobs where you will be expected to write narratives or executive summaries for your supervisors. The idea is that you will have done extensive research on a particular issue, policy, law, event, etc. Your boss will not have the time to read through a lengthy document. Thus you will often be asked to prepare a 1 to 2 page summary of the most salient points that you feel are necessary for your boss to know in preparation for a meeting or in making a decision. Essentially, your goal is to make your boss the smartest person in the meeting.

For this assignment, you will conduct research on National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in the intelligence community. In doing so, prepare an Executive Summary which addresses three issues on this agency. The three issues you are to research are as follows:

1.) The origin and relevant key historical aspects of the agency, to include the circumstances and political environment in which the agency was created;
2) The role of the agency during key periods in history, such as WWII, the Cold War, post Cold War and post 9/11.
3.) What type of intelligence jobs are available in the agency? What skills and experiences are they looking for in hiring employees? Are there opportunities for new college graduates?
