The purpose of this assignment is to study in-depth the content, style, and motivation of the writing of a well-known and respected children’s author or illustrator. Both written and presentation parts of the report are to be about the author’s children’s books and the characteristics of excellence displayed in those books, not to present merely a biographical summary of the life of the author.

The purpose of your presentation is to introduce the author/illustrator to your classmates by presenting and critically analyzing the author/illustrator’s contributions to children’s literature.

Assignment Instructions

1. If you have not done so already, review the Author Report Presentation Overview.
2. Create an 8-10 slide presentation in either GoogleSlides or PowerPoint. Your presentation should include the following
   1. A brief introduction to the author/illustrator, including at least five books that exemplify the author/illustrator’s works;
   2. Specific characteristics of excellence displayed in those books. What is special or noteworthy about the author’s style?
   3. Aspects of the author/illustrator’s personal development that affected his or her work;
   4. A critical analysis of the author/illustrator’s contributions to children’s literature. What will be the author/illustrator’s legacy within children’s literature?
