Part I: Individual activity – Leadership & Management Case Studies (Score = 5% of the course grade)
Go to your Evolve Resources, select HESI Case Studies, Course ID: 10358_jegan22_1004.
Select Case Studies, and then Management.
You will complete the assigned case study. See the group assignmentschart for your individual case study.
Take a screen shot of your computer when you complete the work on your case study (your final version) and use this as your submission to the professor.
You will have 2 hours to complete your case study once you start. Once you open a case study, time starts ticking down. There is no way to ‘stop the clock’ or add additional time.Please plan your activities so that you have sufficient time to complete the case study in one sitting;after 2 hours, your answers will be submitted for grading.You will have the opportunity to “redo” your case study if you wish.
After all students have completed a case study, you will be able to access the feedback on your responses. I encourage you to review the feedback as part of studying for both HESI and the final exam.
Part II: Group activity – in-class discussion and presentation with individual submission (20% of the course grade)
A. This activity will take place in class. You will discuss the following questions within your groups and present the answers to the class: (50% of this group activity grade)
1. Give one example of a delegation related issue/ question from your case study.
2. What problems/ obstacles/ issues were presented in the case study you completed?
3. How were they resolved? Explain any problem solving, decision making, and/or quality improvement process used.
4. Do you think the problems/ obstacles/ issues was resolved satisfactorily?
5. What, if anything, would you have done differently?
Each group will have fifteen minutes to present their answers to the class.
B. After group discussion, each student will submit, on Black Board, one page outlining their experience within the group. (50% of this group activity grade)
1. Did the group run smoothly?
2. Did you have a group leader?Did the leader emerge or was one selected?
3. Did all group members display the qualities of followership? Explain
4. What techniques of decision making were used? Give an example to illustrate one technique.
5. What was your role in the group? Do you think you were a good leader/ follower? Explain.
