ONE-WAY ANOVA

Part One:

  1. Paste SPSS output (3 pts). Beneath the output, type the answers to the following questions:
    1. What is the value of the F statistic for the main effect of exercise? (3 pts)
    2. What is the effect size for the relationship between exercise and stress? This value is in the output (for review, see the section on effect size statistics in Lesson 25). (3 pts)
    3. What is the mean of the pilates group? (3 pts)
  2. Write an APA-style Results section based on your analysis. All homework “Results sections” should follow the example given in the SPSS tutorials and the Course Content document “Writing Results of Statistical Tests in APA Format” (note: you do not have to refer to a figure). Remember to include a decision about the null hypothesis. (3 pts)
  3. Create a boxplot to display the difference among the distributions for the three exercise groups. Remember to put your dependent variable in the “variable” box, and your independent, or grouping, variables in the “category axis” box. (3 pts.)

Part Two:

IPST 30, 25, 26, 31, 29, 24, 32, 35

  1. Paste SPSS output. (3 pts)

  1. What is the F ratio for the therapy group main effect? (3 pts)

  1. What is the effect size for the overall effect of therapy type on ICU scores? According to general conventions, is this effect small, medium, or large? (See Effect Size Statistics section in Lesson 25 for conventions for partial eta squared.) (3 pts)

  1. Write an APA-style Results section based on your analysis. All homework “Results sections” should follow the example given in the SPSS tutorials and the Course Content document “Writing Results of Statistical Tests in APA Format” (note: you do not have to refer to a figure).
