You will select a communication disorder about which you would like to learn from the list discussed in class. You can choose to work with 1 other classmate or work alone (totally up to you!). I strongly encourage you to work with a partner as this reduces the workload but also ensures that you can potentially get your first or second choice of topic. You will research the definition, cause, and the characteristics of the disorder, including what area of our field this disorder falls. You will then research a person in current events who has this communication disorder, the effect on their lives, and the role of the speech-language pathologist in the treatment. Please also include any controversy about this disorder and treatment methods used.
