Paper on Digital Marketing Plan

Select a business idea or subject matter expert idea or personal branding idea that you want to promote.  Then research the idea and develop a plan for how you will promote it incorporating digital marketing.  Challenge yourself.  Take the mindset that you will really pursue this idea, not just for the class, but for yourself.  After the class, you can do what you wish, but why not stay with it?

1. Idea  Write a 3-4 page paper using APA guidelines.  Select a business idea or subject matter expert idea or personal branding idea that you want to promote.  The idea can be a personal branding concept such as Gary Vaynerchuck’s brand or any of the personal brands featured in this book, “Crushing It”.  Here are some examples.  You can be a personal brand that talks about different teas and the tea drinking culture.  You can talk about being an advocate for your own health.  You can talk about the immigrant experience and give help and advice to others.  You can create videos in which you talk about Miami fashion trends and review the best places to find innovative clothing styles.

2. Why  Explain why?  What value, knowledge, and personal perspective do you bring to provide valued content in this area?

3. Target Audience  Identify the target audience for this business or expertise.  What demographic, psychographic, geographic and/or behavioral classifications help to define your target audience?

4. Research  Research other digital marketers that cover this topic or a similar one.  Identify and name two of them: who are they, what social media platforms do they use, what is their point of view? Analyze their content, see what resonated with their audience, see what strategies they use that you might adapt for yourself. How do they represent best practices on creating interest, engagement and business? Provide an example or two of their content or posts.  Provide at least two citations and references to document your sources.

5. Groups  Are there any groups that follow your topic idea (Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn)?  Identify one group that is a good match for your brand.  Research the main points of discussion for this group.

6. Content & Post Example Create one piece of content (words, images, video, etc.) and two social media posts on your topic using two different social media channels that are covered in this course.  We will assume that the content will reside in your website for the entity and the social media posts will direct visitors back to your website for the full content.

7.  Plan   Create a plan that lists ideas for what you could provide for meaningful content in this area for the next six months.  In this plan, set a few goals for what you are trying to reach: viewers, followers, comments, likes.  You decide.

8. Measurement   List two different ways that you can measure your progress over the six-month period.
