Perspectives on culture
Many of our military have been asked to go to different cultures around the world. Write a 500 word essay discussing your experience with different cultures. Some things to consider: what types of customs and norms did they have that you had to acclimate yourself to? What surprised you about the culture? What didn’t surprise you about the culture? What type of training or preparation did you have to deal with the culture? You may use a military experience or a personal experience. If you have never experienced a change of culture, part of the assignment is to experience a change of culture (i.e. attend a different religion’s service or eat at a restaurant that has ethnic food that is not what you traditionally eat). For a maximum grade, your work should directly reflect an understanding of Chapter 3’s vocabulary and terminology.
