Yale Kamisar argues against allowing euthanasia, and we extended his arguments to cover physicianassisted suicide (PAS). Ronald Dworkin (et al.) argues for allowing PAS. Which of their views is most nearly correct? In this essay you will need to do the following: (1) Carefully explain what you take to be the strongest argument for the view that you reject, carefully explain what you take to be the decisive reason for rejecting it, then consider and respond to possible replies to your reasons for rejecting it; (2) Next, carefully explain what you take to be the strongest argument for the view that you accept; (3) Carefully present the two strongest objections that you can to this argument, then offer the strongest reply to each objection [note: I suggest that you present one objection, then reply to it, then move on to the next objection, then reply to it]; and finally, (4) based on the view that you favor, explain what you think the law should be like—should there be a ban on PAS, or should there merely be regulation of it such as we see under Oregon’s Death With Dignity Act (ODDA)?
