Planning trip outside country for extended period of time – Economics

Dean Figgins is the dean of a small college. He was planning a trip outside the country for an extended period of time, so he appointed a faculty member, Dr. Sue Desmond, to be acting dean while he was out of the country. Dean Figgins also posted an announcement on the college website, telling the public that Dr. Desmond was authorized to act in his place. He told Sue privately that he did not want her making any admissions decisions while he was gone. Dr. Desmond received a call from a very wealthy alumnus, who was demanding that her child be admitted to the college. As a result, Dr. Desmond overruled the admissions committee so that she could admit the wealthy alumnus’s child.

QUESTION: Does the child Dr. Desmond admitted have the right to attend this college even though Dr. Desmond was not authorized to do what she did?
