PNEUMATICS

Read the following BEFORE getting started:
PNEUMATICS
Objectives: a) Understand how the 5/2, 3/2 valves work! b) Understand the operation of a flow restrictor and a diaphragm valve c) Understand how a single acting cylinder and a double acting cylinder work with different control valve configurations d) Understand ISO symbols for pneumatic components e) Be able to construct a pneumatic “circuit” from various components to build an automatic paper feed and punch mechanism (and how it is analogous to an electrical circuit)
Procedure:
1. Read the supplementary information 2. Turn on the compressor 3. Check the functionality of the 3-2 valves and 5/2 valves on the board 4. Determine where to supply air to the 3-2 valves, 5/2 valves and main double acting piston to get automation of the rocking device 5. Determine where to “T” into the supply lines to get the other auxiliary pistons working in the correct order. 6. Draw a 1 line airflow-diagram of the circuit you created using all figures from the following reading. Be sure to discuss how the air flows to control the parts in the circuit.
Discussion of Results: Briefly describe each of the devices used and their function Give some examples how these pneumatic devices might be used in industry
