For each poem you choose, consider the historical period in which it was written, along with the poet’s background (including cultural factors, such as regionalism, ethnicity, family history, and socioeconomic status). Please note that you may find information on poets in our text (see Indexes) or online via keyword searches.??Tell us what you conclude about these poems, analyzing the social and cultural factors that may have influenced the poets. What do they share? How do they differ?
As we look closely at commonalities and differences among the poems and poets, we will discuss their relevance to us as readers and evaluate them in terms of how effectively they handle the same theme.
