Powerpoint Latin American + 1 question
Oral presentation (10% of final grade)
Individually or in groups of no more than 2 students, choose ONE current news from online newspapers. The news must be related to any topic covered during the course
about the cultures. history,politics or economy of any country in Latin America. The news may be in English or in Spanish.
Afterwards, with your partner, be ready to present orally in English your article to the rest of the class. Both members of the group must speak during the
presentation of the article and both should be ready to answer any questions other students or the instructor may have about the news presented.
In your presentation both of you must explain in a total minimum of 5 minutes and no more than 10 minutes:
1) The source and the date of the news. The news must be recent and from a serious source (e.g.: bbc.com, economist.com, pewresearch.org, etc.). Consult with your
instructor if you have questions about whether a source is reliable. It will be easier to find something related to the very last topics covered during the semester.
2) The main topic the news deals with (10 points). You may use visual aids (e.g.: PowerPoint) if you wish. You must not read from a paper, but you may have brief
bullet-point notes to help you, in case you get “stuck”,
3) Why that particular article was appealing to both of you (10 points)
