You are expected to write a 6 page essay on current political developments (post-2016) in two countries of your choice, choosing these countries on the basis of their similarity or difference. One of your chosen countries should not be covered by the textbook. Therefore, the countries SHOULD NOT BE THE FOLLOWING: Britain, France, Germany, European Union, Japan, India, USA, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Nigeria, The Russian Federation, Iran, and China. Compare and contrast the two countries on any of the parameters used to organize case studies in the textbook: that is, political economy and development or governance and policy-making or representation and participation. Do not discuss UAE. Besides course readings, your essay should draw from at least ten other academic sources, no less than five of which should be peer-reviewed articles (not books). Essays should have an introduction, a clear thesis statement, a conclusion and a properly formatted bibliography. The content should be current; no more than one page may be devoted to the history of the issue. Your essay should be properly formatted and cited according to the APA style guidelines. The required format is: double spaced, singled-sided, Times New Roman 12-pts font and 1” margins throughout, proper heading/cover page, the in-brackets citations, no footnotes or endnotes.
