Prepare the staffing cost estimates

You cannot push anyone up the ladder unless he is willing to climb.” – Andrew Carnegie

Training and development has, in recent decades, moved to the forefront of human resource management activities, especially as the US economy progresses away from a manufacturing focus and develops into a knowledge-based economy.

Training is a critical Human Resource function aimed at developing and improving the competency of an employee in order to enable performance improvement or productivity in their current position. It is a planned activity that is an outcome of the performance appraisal process and is intended to improve the attitude, skills and knowledge of a person with a resulting improvement in behavior.

Development, as opposed to training, suggests that employees should have an opportunity to grow – to acquire skills, talents and competencies that allow the employee to advance within the organization as it is currently structured or as it anticipates being structured in the future.

Effective communications are integral to the success of an organization in every aspect of its functioning. Communication helps create clear expectations for customers, employees and all stakeholders. It enables individuals and groups to build trusting and loyal relationships and permits the flow of both positive and negative feedback. Communication facilitates creativity and innovation by creating better understanding of customer needs and preferences. And, promotes teamwork and cooperation.
