Prose Fiction (short story)
Task
Create an original short story of 1,500 words and write a critical analysis of 500 words in length. The critical analysis should comment upon the development of the idea for the story, its influences, etc but more importantly should include an assessment of the completed story in relation to the techniques covered in the Prose Module. This will involve an explanation of what techniques are used, why they were chosen, how they work to create meaning and the degree to which they are successful.
Rationale
This task is the culmination of the prose section of the subject. It assesses the following subject
outcomes:
understand some of the formatting, drafting and architectural principles of writing
be able to analyse and assess fiction […]
