At the graduate level, you must conduct research from academic sources and synthesize the information in your document. To accomplish this, begin with a topic sentence. Follow the topic sentence with 2-3 sentences that have various points related to the topic that find support from by different references. End the paragraph with a concluding sentence that summarizes the topic. The reference list should be around 10 references for a 1,000-word paper and have at least 50% academic, peer-review references.
Overview: Begin each assignment by going through the material in the Lessons. Particularly, be sure to view the TED talks. Note that the TED talks are scene-setters that provide a background or alternate perspective to the topic, and are not reviewed in the assignment unless otherwise noted.
Review any prior feedback that has been provided to you by the instructor. Review the APA manual or other Resource material as the instructor may indicate. Ensure that you do not make any repeat errors in your papers. Your papers will be heavily discounted or returned for resubmission if you do not show an effort to improve your work.

Assume that you are writing for an uninformed reader that knows nothing about the topic and has not read what you read. Provide an introduction that gives the background of the resource you’re reviewing, so the reader will understand what they’re reading and why. Consider the following topics for inclusion in this week’s discussion:
– What are the roles and responsibilities of emergency managers and first responders?
– What is the role of state government in emergency management?
– What are the roles of voluntary organizations in disaster response?
– Describe the presidential disaster declaration system and process.
– Describe the National Response Framework and the National Incident Command System.
– What are the roles of FEMA and other government agencies in disaster recovery?
– Describe the National Disaster Recovery Framework?
– How can a community develop a long-term recovery plan?
DO NOT list out the topics or questions and answer them. They are not meant to be all-inclusive, and your reader will not understand the context. Rather, give an overview of the author’s entire body of work, using the topics as guidelines. Ensure that you meet or exceed the 1000-word target, and that your paper meets APA presentation requirements.
