PS 314 Mini-Research Papers
The purpose of this assignment is to go beyond what is available in the textbook and learn more about a specific topic in biopsychology. The topic of your paper may be anything related to biopsychology, but it must be a specific topic. For example, discussing the general topic of drugs would be too broad, but discussion factors influencing heroin addiction would be appropriate.
The body of the paper should be should be a minimum of 3 double-spaced pages in length, with a minimum of 3 peer reviewed/professional journal references, which can be found using the library’s online resources. Internet websites (e.g. Wikipedia) are not acceptable –the textbook may be used as a fourth reference.
The body of the paper should include a brief introduction to the topic as well as a brief conclusion that gives suggestions for further research. The best way to approach the paper is to group the references into a couple major ideas that you will discuss. Try to avoid just summarizing one reference after another, but instead, discuss the references as they apply to major ideas within your chosen topic.
Your paper should include the following:
1) APA Style title page with Running head and APA header on each subsequent page.
2) Body of paper:At least 3 double-spaced pages of text.
3) APA Style reference page.
*The title page and reference page do not count as one of the three pages.*
Use no larger than 12-point font and 1 inch margins throughout.
A template has been posted with this assignment which you should use to help format the paper properly in APA Style. Simply open the template, save it on your computer as another file name (e.g. Phillips_paper), and plug in your information in the appropriate places. Correct use of APA style is worth 10 of the 50 points for this assignment. Therefore, you are strongly encouraged to use the provided template.
Each paper will be graded on satisfaction of the above stated requirements as well as quality of information, clarity, and spelling/grammar.
