Public Health Project Proposal

Discussion 1: Public Health Advocacy

Read the success stories in this module’s Learning Resources (See attachment) about how advocacy can create change in public health policy. How do those stories help you define the role of advocacy in public health? For this module’s Discussion, use those examples and examine how you might apply their strategies to your own agency (Conserted Services Inc, consertedservices.org) and the public health issues and populations you serve.

To prepare:

Review this module’s Learning Resources (See attachment).

Consider the meaning of “advocacy.”

Think about how your agency (Conserted Services Inc, consertedservices.org) is involved in advocacy and how that involvement might inform policy makers.

By Day 2 of Week 1 (4paragraphs) (Tuesday February 27th)

Respond to the following:

How would you define advocacy?

How is your agency involved in advocacy efforts within the local service delivery area?

How might the advocacy work done at your agency inform policy makers (local and state level)?

Provide an example of an action or actions your agency might take to better inform policy makers.

Discussion 2: Feasibility and Replicability

To prepare for this Discussion, review the Project Proposal (See Attachment for Fall Prevention In The Elderly Proposal) you completed in PUBH 6245 and reflect on the methodology you used to develop your project Premise. Ask yourself, Is my study feasible? Will I be able to reasonably complete this study? Will someone else be able to replicate my study in another environment or corroborate my methods and findings? Do I need to make any adjustments?

By Day 3 of Week 1 (4paragraphs) (Wednesday February 28)

Post an explanation of the feasibility and replicability of your Applied Project. Provide specific examples that illustrate both.

Assignment: Applied Project: Community Health Program Plan Proposal Submission

For your Final Project in PUBH 6245, you developed a proposal for a community health intervention under the guidance of your preceptor. In this course, you will create a more in-depth and formal Applied Project that builds on that document. Before you begin your Applied Project, reflect on the feedback you received from your Instructor on your proposal from PUBH 6245, and any additional guidance you have received from your preceptor (See Attachment). Then, complete the following:

The Assignment:

· Submit your revised and updated Final Project: Proposal for a Community Health Intervention and Annotated Bibliography from PUBH 6245, including Instructor feedback from that course.

· Briefly describe the important changes you made to your proposal and why. Explain how your proposal demonstrates competence in the Master’s of Public Health program outcomes using specific examples.
