Question: As World War II in the Pacific was coming to a close, the United States decided to use its new top secret weapon, the atomic bomb. Assess the US decision to use ‘the bomb’ against Japan. Why did Americans elect to employ this weapon and what were the results? Did the US have other options available to win the war without employing nuclear weapons? In your opinion, was the decision to use atomic weapons the correct one, why or why not?
