200 word research about suspension bridges
This is the example that my teacher gave me.
There are various usable designs for this
specific structure. Beam bridges, arch bridges, truss
bridges, and suspension bridges are four of the
many designs that could be used in this design
process. Beam bridges are one of the simpler
designs, “In its most basic form, a bridge consists
of a horizontal beam that is supported at each end
by piers. The weight of the beam pushes straight
down on the piers.” 1 Generally, the further the
supports are from one another, the weaker the
bridge is, which is why these bridges don’t usually
exceed 250 feet. 4 The arch bridges on the other hand can span up to 800 feet. 5
