Fed Up explores the issue of genetically modified organisms and their relationship to food, farming, health and the environment. While Rivoli spends only a few lines on Monsanto and GMO agriculture (the “virtuous circle”, the issues surrounding GMOs and Monsanto’s corporate behavior are far more controversial than she might have us believe. What do you think about GMO foods on balance–should our food be labeled, or should GMO foods be regulated as in the EU, where they are not allowed in food? What about the impact of Monsanto infertile seeds, that are now contaminating places like Mexico, the birthplace of corn (maize)? Do you think we know enough about GMOs to let them into the environment as Monsanto is doing globally?
