Please help me write a reflective essay about my English class Portfolio. All the information are attached below. If you need some background from me to write this essay, my major is Finance but I need to pass this Portfolio to able to graduate. I came to America when I was 9 years old, so English is Second Language. You can say anything, but have to make sense for me.

For my english class, we wrote 2 major essays and 3 Timed Essays. I will attach all the essays below, so you will know which are major essay and which are timed essay. Except the first Time Essay I wrote by myself (I only got 13/15 piont on that, so bad), you wrote the rest of the essays for me.

Timed Essays: Students also write timed essays during the term. Students have one hour and fifty minutes to write a response to the prompt. These certified timed essays are included in the portfolio. These essays will require Respondus lockdown browser.

Major Essays: English 3000 calls for all students to write two out-of-class essays roughly 800 words in length. These essays are thesis-driven, multi-draft arguments. Students receive feedback on their first drafts from me and receive feedback on their second drafts from and OWL or SCAA tutor.

What is Reflective Writing?

According to The Allyn & Bacon Guide to Writing, “to reflect is to turn back or look back, to reconsider something thought or done in the past from the perspective of the present” (599).

Reflective writing often is metacognitive, which means that it requires you to think about how you think, or, to think about your intellectual processes.

Assignment

For your final writing assignment of the term, you will write a comprehensive reflective essay introducing your English 3000 portfolio to the CSU East Bay Portfolio Committee. Your essay will need to reflect on your development as a writer over the whole term. The goal of this essay is depth, not a vague survey.

As you begin your reflection, consider the following: 1) how your writing meets the University Writing Skills Requirement 2) your understanding of how you have evolved as a writer 3.) the rhetorical decisions that you made in your essays to meet the demands of audience, purpose, and genre 4.) the strengths and weaknesses of your writing.

In sum, the objective of this essay is to reflect on your portfolio of writing and to consider how it satisfies the University Writing Skills Requirement.

As you begin prewriting for your essay, ask yourself the following questions:

1. What background information does the portfolio committee need to know about me and my work?

2. Over the term, what have I learned about writing or about myself as a writer?

3. What are the most significant strengths and weaknesses of my writing?

4. What specific evidence from my essays can I reference or quote to illustrate the claims I am making about my writing?

5. Has my writing evolved? What moments do I want to point to in my portfolio to illustrate this evolution?

6. What have I learned about myself as a writer this quarter? How will I use this knowledge in future writing endeavors?

7. What do I value about the work that I have done?

8. What are my final thoughts about my writing and/or about myself as a writer?

Tips and Further Information

· Writing a quality reflection is no overnight matter; be prepared to spend an extensive amount of time in the writing process.

· Please, no “My writing meets the university criteria” statements, or, “I deserve to pass the UWSR requirement.” This is a time to illustrate how you have grown as a writer and how your writing reflects this growth.
