1. From Newmont’s point of view, what are the legal, ethical and management issues? Also, how could cultural differences between the US and Peru have played a role in the tensions?
2. As a member of Newmont’s senior management team reviewing the situation at the end of the case recommend a plan of action and explain your reasoning.
3. What are some reasonable ‘relationship-building’ approaches that Newmont can utilize to build rapport with local people while implementing strong human resource practices?
