Based on the video, how do we make ourselves vulnerable or not so vulnerable with decision-making. Sometimes do we try to make the uncertain, certain, by making a decision without the facts and taking into consideration everyone’s perspective of the decision at hand? Do we pretend that the other perspective doesn’t even exist when we are making decisions?

Identify and discuss the various factors that contribute to imperfect decision making in YOUR organization.”

Peer Student’s Post for Critique by Angel: I found this talk on vulnerability to be extremely informative and true. One major point that stood out to me was when Dr. Brown mentioned that we cannot selectively numb emotion. I completely agree. If we want to feel joy and gratitude, we need to experience feelings like grief and fear as well. It is easy to want to be joyful all the time, but sometimes we need to experience grief in order to feel true joy.
Many factors affect the decision making process that can lead to mistakes being made in organizations. In my organization, it seems like people only hear and see what they want. They have their own preferences and that creates biases within the organization. I feel that people need to open up more to the information and the other workers around.

Another thing that happens is they put great focus on what one person says. Anytime a decision has to be made, most people only look to one certain individual that they feel knows everything. And mostly they are people that no longer works in the department. I feel that if the person does not work in the department and does not oversee the day to day operations, then they should not be able to make decisions that affect not only the department, but the people that works in the department.
