Research Analysis- Ethnography

Research Analysis- Ethnography
There are several questions that will guide you in what you need to write. However, do not just simply answer these questions but write a cohesive piece with a central
narrative. In academic writing (especially in research) you always want to be telling a story to your reader.
HOMEWORK 4
Critically Analyzing an Ethnography

Due: Sunday, April 9th, 11:59 PM EDT
Your Name

Guidelines for the analysis of qualitative research reports include factors such as:
• Does the report include description, analysis and interpretation or just some of these elements?
• Is the rationale for the study provided?
• Is there a detailed description of the setting and methods?
• Is there an analysis of the culture studied?
• Are the techniques appropriate for the research topic?
• Are the criteria for selecting participants identified?
• Are multiple sources of data used?
• Does the researcher identify their own assumptions, beliefs, values and biases?

With these and other factors in mind, review “An Urban Ethnography of Latino Street Groups” at http://www.csun.edu/~hcchs006/gang.html. Write a critical analysis of
this ethnography in no more than one page (single-spacing), using the space below. Your analysis should reflect your careful reading of all sections of the
ethnography, not just a few sections.
