RESEARCH PAPER: THE ODYSSEY /English
I. Formulate a research question regarding your topic. If you are researching a person, consider this to be a character analysis. What are the contributions of the person/literary work to the classical/medieval/Renaissance Period/whatrole(s) did the person/work play or what impact did he or it have on the advancement/development of the body of literature? Why is the literature valuable? Answer the question in the form of a thesis statement.
II. Choose secondary sources that are relevant to your topic and review with your research question in mind: Use books and Galileo databases (Academic Search Complete, Biographical Database, JStor) How does this material address your research question? In what ways does it provide support for your thesis? How might a particular quote or paraphrase support your thesis?
III. Decide to quote, paraphrase, orsummarize.
IV. Document every quotation, paraphrase, orsummary with a citation in your text and a corresponding entry in your list of sources cited.
V. Focus carefully on content, organization,sentence structure, sentence all papers must be typed and follow MLA format.
VI. Write the paper in the third person (i.e., he, she, they).
VII. Do not use contractions
VIII. Be consistent with tense
IX. Paper should be 6â€8 pp not including the Works Cited page.
X. A minimum of five sources are required. (At least two sources must be print)
