Research Paper Proposal

You will be working on portions of the research paper throughout the next weeks. The first part of the research paper project is due at the end of this week.

  1. Topic: List your chosen topic for the research paper. What interests you about this topic? Do you have any prior knowledge or bias related to this topic? Why do you think this topic should be explored? Why is it important?
  1. Research Plan: Briefly sketch out a plan for research. What strategies will you use for gathering information and organizing your paper? What will you do if you run into problems or confusion selecting sources or writing your paper?
  1. Sources: Make a preliminary list of sources you plan to use to gather information on your topic. Cite four or more sources in MLA format that relate to your topic. Two of the sources should be articles from the online library and one of the sources should be a primary source (refer to the Primary and Secondary Sources lecture in Week 1 for additional information on selecting primary sources).

  4. Choose one of the approved topics and sk  etch out your research plan.
  5. Make a preliminary list of sources you plan to use, including at least two that are articles from the online library. There are several suggested supplemental sources in the list of approved topics.
