• Use the headings in the following pages to structure your submission
• NB Read the assessmentguidelines for each section in conjunction with the assessment matrix also available on CloudDeakin
• NB You are required to complete two options for your thesis research proposal
• Keep within the word count (TOTAL = 2 options @ 650 words each, plus relevant references). This assessment task 1= 20% of your final grade.

THESIS OPTION 1

Field of Research:Enter the field of research here e.g. Colour and Architecture

• Question or Design Proposition
o Assessment criteria: Is the question or proposition well-articulated, and specific?
o Write no more than 50 words for this section: State question or proposition; plus sub-questions or further clarification as you see fit.

• Scope
o Describe where the question or proposition is situated in relation to the research field. Be as specific as possible. What gap in knowledge does your question or propositionaddress?
o Refer to at least two academic referencesYOU have located that are directly relevant to your question or proposition (use academic journal articles, extracts from academic books, reputable professional journals, international academic conferences – this includes reviews of architectural projects and other design precedent)
o What will be the outcome of your research? Why is this significant? Who cares?
o Write no more than 400 words for this section.

• Methodology
o Situate your proposal in terms of research about, for or through design and construction.
o Outline what method(s) you will use to undertake the research.
o Why is this the best way to address your question or proposition?
o Write no more than 200 words for this section.

• References
o Use Harvard referencing style to cite your sources in the above sections, and insert a list of references under this heading. (.You are advised to set up a Menderley reference library to assist in inserting referencing and a bibliography).
