Introduction

The word of technology keeps changing day after the other. New technological advancements are innovated as time goes by. Technology is dynamic rather than static. Mobile applications are innovated day in day out as well. This helps to create convenience for the users of the smartphones. These mobile applications are already instead for the users before they purchase them. Examples of the mobile phones OS applications include blackberry, android, windows, Firefox OS, Google Chrome, iMac, among other applications (Blowers and Bryan, 2004). The purpose of carrying out this research is to find out why people nowadays use mobile phone applications more than they use web browsers. The study will also investigate the benefits of the mobile phone applications over the web browsers and how the mobile applications affect conducting of business today.

Do mobile applications make businesses better or worse? Does it affect it negatively or positively? It will also study the developers and consumers of users’ expectations on the mobile phone applications. The merit is that the users can uninstall the applications that they do not need by simply long-pressing the application and clicking or touching on “uninstall”. If they want to install an application that is not installed on the phone, they can do so by simply downloading the mobile application from the play sore for the android phones and from the Apple store for the Apple products like iPhones, iPods, iPad, among other apples phone models. It is important to note that in the year 2010, applications were the word of the year. Mobile application usage is advancing and becoming rampant as time goes by. More applications are being developed while others are being advanced. This shows how technology is dancing very day and how failure to update the state of technology can render devices obsolete.

Web applications are actually not as reliable and efficient as the mobile applications. People and business people the world over have turned to using mobile applications more than they use web browsers. Some businesses however have a disadvantage as the big businesses take advantage to develop more advancement in technology. This is because they have the financial ability to do so. However, in the year 2014, the regulatory authorities began to control this so as to promote fair consumption of these technological services and products. Many people have actually turned to suing mobile applications or mobile apps. Findings from the year 2012 showed that the number of mobile applications usage is actually greater than the number of web browser usage.

Businesses are turning into using more of mobile applications than they use web browsers. This affects businesses positively. Due to the positive impact of suing mobile apps, people should therefore use mobile applications in their smartphones to conduct businesses as they are faster, more reliable (McCallister, 2014). Mobile apps are also more accessible as they are stored in the smartphone’s app store and can be accessed any time. Their quality is high since it is regulated, opposed to web browsers whose quality is not subject to any regulations. They are also more convenient than the web browsers. The speed of mobile apps is also higher as it does not have to keep loading since its procedure for usage is routine-like. Mobile apps are also easy to use. They are condensed to fit consumers’ needs as opposed to web browsers.

Mobile apps can be developed for specific devices. All a designer has to do is to get the requirements of how a client wants their app to be, then they can develop it specifically for that. For example, Apple applications are developed specifically for apple devices. However, most of the mobile applications are compatible with smartphones features and thus can be used in most mobile phones. Most consumers prefer mobile apps that can be used in any smartphone. This makes it more convenient and accessible for them.

Why mobile applications are growing and how it affects businesses

Mobile phone applications have really grown. Most people use mobile phone applications to carry out their businesses than they use web browsers. This is due to the benefits that the mobile applications offer the businesses people. For example, it helps in easier and faster communications. Mobile apps usually exhibit a faster form of communication. It is very reliable in terms of communication (Gonzalez, 2015). In the business world, it has made business performance better. This is because a business person can communicate to their clients faster and more reliably. This creates a high level of convenience for both the customer and the business people. This convenience due to faster and reliable communication leads to high level of customer retention. This makes the business perform even better. Therefore, it makes the performance of businesses better.

Security

Many mobile applications have good security. The security feature is embedded in most of the mobile applications. Thus, it is not easy for one to leak any information form the mobile app. Business men carrying out their business using the mobile apps will have all the information about their business very secure. Having great security implanted makes the process and performances of business superior.

Affordability

Mobile applications offer quite a cheap form of advertisement. It is a cheap form of advertisement since the mobile applications are installed in other people’s phones. Now, people use their phones all the time. In the current generation, people use their phones more than they do in their social to people. This means that as people go through their phones, they keep seeing the mobile applications. This is therefore one form of advertisement. This form of advertisement is cheap, since it does not involve any cost. All that is required is just to have the application in the customer’s phones.

Great performance

Mobile applications exhibit a great performance. Most of the mobile applications have a great performance. They are quite fast, actually faster than the web browsers. This feature lead to a higher financial performance in business as customers like fast applications that are reliable. Therefore, most customers make a return purchase.

Mobile applications can easily help connect globally

With the mobile phones applications, one can connect globally with the rest of the world. Most mobile applications are able to enable people to connect to the rest of the world. People can interact with others with different parts of the world using the mobile applications (Khalid, Shihab, Nagappan and Hassan, 2015). For those carrying out businesses online or through ecommerce, they can sell their products globally. Thus, mobile applications help business people to connect their business globally. This helps the business to earn more profits. Mobile applications have affected business positively since business can now be conducted globally. This is a merit in mobile phone applications that is not found in web browser, a reason that causes people or even business people to use mobile phone applications more than they use web browsers.

Accessibility

Mobile phone applications are actually very accessible. They are already installed on people’s phones. They also readily update themselves without the owner of the smartphone having to do it himself or herself. The mobile applications simply do the updating by themselves. Also, the mobile apps are actually very compatible with many smartphones features. It is compatible with the software as well as hardware features. It is compatible with such features as the cameras, among others.

Efficiency

Mobile apps are usually very efficient. They are usually designed for the smartphones for which they are developed. While being designed, the mobile applications have quality regulations. So they have to be quality. The mobile phones are therefore quality and they can be purchased from the app stores (Hennig, 2014). When someone needs to install them, they can easily get them from the app stores such as play store for android phones, Apple store for Apple phones or Google Store. This efficiently helps in business people to carry out their business more efficiently and received better profit for the business. This is because more customers turn up due to the efficiency of the mobile apps, as customers like profitability.

Ease of use

One of the merits of mobile apps is the ease of use. It is quite easy to use mobile apps. You just have to launch them and follow the necessary steps of performing several functions like making an order to buy something. The steps are predetermined and they are routine-like, so that one uses the same steps almost all the time, unless the mobile applications are updated. One does not have to wait for them to load and follow criteria or steps that are not sure. Businesses using mobile applications, therefore, have more customers enjoying these apps and this helps increase their profits.

Matching user’s needs

Another advantage of using mobile applications is matching user’s needs. Mobile applications are usually designed to serve specific needs of users. For example, a travel app can only be used to help in meeting travel needs. So a user will only download or install those mobile apps that they need. A business will design a mobile app that is specific to serve the user’s needs. This affects the business positively by allowing the customers to use the applications to make orders to purchase something from a particular business. This helps the business perform better and get more profits.

The mobile applications are condensed to a better view

A good thing or merit about the mobile applications is also that they usually condensed to a better view. They do not make the smartphones look untidy. This is because they are condensed to a better view. Users are therefore okay with having the mobile applications in their smartphones (Joorabchi, Mesbah and Kruchten, 2013). When the users have the smartphones, they will be reminded all the time by seeing them into their smartphones. This will cause them to use them and consequently, it will lead to better profits for the business people.

It eliminates unnecessary objects

Mobile apps are usually specific and meant for particular users. For example, if a business needs to have a mobile application for helping customers order and pay goods for delivery, they will develop that specific mobile app. These apps will help in conducting business in a more convenient and efficient manner that will help the business earn more profits.

Molding applications to different mobile devices.

Mobile applications can be molded for different mobile devices. The mobile app developers usually meet their client to get the specifications of the program of mobile app that they need and for which device. Using the programs, the developers design applications that fit particular devices. This explains why some mobile applications fit in certain devices and not others. However, most of the mobile applications are compatible with smartphone features.

Mobile Apps developers and expectations

There are several mobile apps developers. Examples include Élan Telemedia limited, Muva, Umptech Ltd, Timex Treasures, among others. These developers come up with several mobile phone apps for particular uses. They develop the mobile apps according to the use for which they are meant. The developers meet their clients and get the requirements for the clients (Chetty, 2009). The expectations of the mobile app developers usually expect that the mobile apps will sell quiet a lot all over the word and get very high profits. However, this is mostly not the case. Some mobile apps do not perform as well as the developers expect them to perform. Also, developers think that the mobile apps they develop will be very fast and reliable (Henricksen and Indulska, 2006). That is however, not always the case. In reality, the mobile apps are not as fast and sometimes they take long to load. The mobile app developers also expect that the mobile apps will perform well. However, the reviews of the mobile apps have not been good. This means that the expectations of the mobile app developers’ expectations do not match the actually results of the mobile apps.

Consumers and expectations

The consumers of mobile applications range from students to business people. Almost everyone uses mobile apps in one way or the other. The consumers of the mobile apps have several expectations. For example, they expect that the mobile apps will be very fast. However, in real life, they are not as fast as the consumers expect them to be. Also, the consumers expect that the applications will be very provide 100% reliability. This is however not always the case. They have on many occasions fallen short of these particular expectations. The consumers also expect that the mobile apps will meet several needs so that they can use them to perform several functions. However, this has not been the case. The mobile apps only perform specific functions for which they are designed (Hillerson, 2016). Thus, the consumers ‘expectations do not match the actual experience with the mobile apps. They have actually not been met on a 100% scale.

Conclusion

Mobile applications have gained a lot of prominence currently. They are more preferred especially among business people more than web browsers. This is due to the benefits than it holds. For example, mobile applications are more efficient as compared to web browsers. They are quality and pre-installed in the smartphones. If one needs it, they can install it from the app store. If there is an already installed mobile app that smartphone user does not need, then they can uninstall it. On the other hand, the web browsers do not have any forms of regulations to ensure quality, making mobile apps better. Mobile applications are compatible with many features of the mobile applications. This makes these apps very accessible to a wide range of people. However, web browsers are quite limited on the compatibility with several smartphone features. This causes the mobile applications to have more preference than web browsers. Mobile applications are also easier to use than web browsers. This is because they have a set procedure on how to use as opposed to web browsers. Mobile applications are also faster to use than web browsers. This is because one doesn’t have to wait for them to load so as to use them as opposed to web browsers, whereby one has to wait for them to load through the internet. Mobile applications are also condensed to a better view as opposed to web browsers. This is why most people and business people are using mobile applications more than web browsers.

The use of mobile apps has been increasing day after the other. According to projections, by the year 2020, they will have an increase in returns. Mobile apps can be gotten form blackberry app world, Apple app store, Google app store, among other app stores. Early 2017, precisely the month of March, the apps in Apple app store amounted to 2.2 million and in Google play, they amounted to 2.8 million. This amount was less in 2016, meaning that mobile apps are increasing daily. In 2018 and the years to come, they are still expected to increase.

Different devices have apps with different specifications. Most of the mobile apps are designed for specific devices. However, the apps are compatible for very many features of smartphones, which makes them more accessible. Most of the time, the developers expect the mobile apps to be 100% convenient, be very fast, bring back a lot of profits, among other expectations (Chetty, 2009). I real life, however, the expectations are not met on 100% coverage. The consumers of the mobile apps like the business people and customers also expect the mobile apps to be very fast, to be used for several purposes, and be 100% reliable among other expectations. However, his is not usually the case as their expectations are 100% met.

The benefits that the mobile apps hold such as being easy to use, fitting user needs, condensing to a better view, being accessible, convenient, efficient, among other benefits make many people to prefer them over the web browsers.
