Assignment Details:

You have a final assignment with the Acme organisation.

Acme is considering expanding its business into the UK market; however there is concern about current UK consumer spending. Acme plans on selling mid-priced small household electrical items (such as blenders) but wants to know more about consumers on low-to-middle incomes and how they’re coping with the rising cost of living. You have found an online video which seems to provide good information about UK consumers, and wish to summarise it for your Manager.

Your assignment is three-fold:

1) determine what type of document would be best for creating a summary of this video and justify your answer

2) review the video and summarise the current UK customer that Acme would be selling to; specifically indicate how you came to these observations and conclusions

3) explain how culture, ethnocentrism, and language differences affect affected your ability to understand and interpret the focus group participants ie. if the participants use words or phrases that are specific to their culture that you are unfamiliar with.

Note: you are not expected to write a report for this assignment; you simply need to address the above 3 points in a detailed manner, in no more than 3 pages. However, be sure to use suitable tone, language, and structure in your response document.

You should specifically apply your learning from Chapter 3 (and the other Chapters) and develop your assignment by both listening to their comments as well as observing their non-verbal communication.
