the Salem Witch TrialsÂ

Research and writing needs to be as in depth and thorough as a regular Journal or DB.  If it is replacing a DB it needs to be at least 50 words longer than a regular DB since you will not be responding to anyone.

For this make up you are going to research the Salem Witch Trials.  You can write it as straight research or if you want to have some fun with it you can write it as a letter or journal (as an accused witch, an accuser, a neighbor – whatever).

Resources you MUST use

• The text book
• American Historical Newspapers Newsbank (see above). Once you open the Newsbank in the center column you will see 2nd down Witch Trials. Read the overview then read some of the articles from “Witch-Hunt Victims and Participants”
• A really good website with lots of primary resources – read some of this too.http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/salem/salem.htm Links to an external site.

You are welcome to use other sources but please let me know what you used if you do.

Checklist

• Research the Salem Witch Trials the textbook and Historical Newspaper databases and website.
• This will be graded with the Journal rubric, but it does not have to be written as if you were living in that time period.  You can write it as write it as you were living in the time period or not.
