5 Page research paper that examines one type of urban place in order to address the interrelationships between place and sex, sexuality, and gender. The paper should draw upon theories covered in class readings and discussions to develop a critical analysis of the socio-spatial dynamics that produce and affect the selected place. Questions that may need to be address include: what historical factors contributed to the production of the place, how is the place used at different points in time, who all uses the space, what conflicts or tensions exist regarding the space, what are the affordance of the space for the performance of sexuality and gender, who owns the space, how is it regulated, surveilled, policed?
