Description
1. The shape of a distribution for a variable can be seen in a variety of ways. Some options include a frequency distribution, a histogram, stem-and-leaf plot, or frequency polygon. Discuss whether EACH of these techniques is useful or not, and why.
2. The shape of a distribution has important implications for determining whether to use the mean, median, or mode. What are characteristics of a normal, skewed, or bimodal distributions? You can use visuals to illustrate your points.
3. What area of research are you considering for your dissertation? Ideally you will focus in on 2 or 3 main variables (though of course you will likely have demographic variables as well). What types of variables are these (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio)?
