Share and analyze the room for debate topic/English

Your rough draft of Essay I is due this week, so for this week’s Original Post you will share and analyze the Room for Debate topic (“debate”) you have chosen to write about for Essay I. Briefly introduce the debate and its debaters (“contributors”), summarize each of the debaters’ perspectives on the topic, and then offer your assessment of the debate’s outcome.

In other words, what is this argument all about? Who is talking about it? What are they saying? Of all the contributors, who do you think “won” the debate, and why? Keep in mind that you are not being asked to present your opinion on the topic. Rather, you are tasked with evaluating the conversation surrounding an issue and determining who contributed the most effective argument. To develop and support your evaluation, be sure to incorporate evidence from Room for Debate contributors – summarized, paraphrased, and/or directly quoted material – according to MLA guidelines.

It is imperative that you include a functional link to your Room for Debate topic (“debate”) somewhere in your Original Post.
