1. Describe some of the adjustments that children and adolescents must make as a result of parents divorcing, re-marrying, and becoming a part of a step family. What are some of these adjustments that adolescents must make and what would you suggest in making these adjustments more tolerable at such an important time in an emerging adult’s life?
2. Authoritarian, Authoritative, Neglectful, and Indulgent — these are the four main “parenting styles” Do your research and make an assessment of the parenting style YOUR parents used with you. If you are now a parent, compare that to the parenting style you are using (yourself). Which parenting style(s) did your parents use? Do you feel that it was effective? Are there something you wished your parents did differently, in terms of “how” he or she (or both) parented?
