Research Project 15 marks + 5 for Presentation
Spring 2018
Project Idea:
1. Under a hypothetical case, 1,000,000 Riyals have been granted to your group and you have been asked to invest to achieve good profits on the original invested amount by the end of the period.
2. Investment options are as follows:
a. Investment in the Stock Market (Local Shares / Global Shares)
b. Bank deposits (only non-Islamic banks)
c. Gold or other precious metals.
d. Bonds / Investment Instruments (Global Market)
e. Currency market
3. You can choose 3 types of investment as a minimum of the above options, with a maximum of 5 investments.
4. Investment is made according to the investment policy agreed upon by the group members (desired level of risk).
5. The agreed investment policy should be based on the swap between return and risk.
6. The final investment returns should be shown and how to calculate them accurately and clearly.
7. To prove profits and revenues, you must attach supporting documents. Remember that project results will only be counted if supporting documentation is provided.
8. The portfolio can be reused according to the agreed investment strategy.
9. Investment period will be from 1/12/2017 until 31/3/2018. This period is the period during which the investment returns will be calculated.
Projects Report:
– Cover Page.
– Index Page.
– Abstract (approximately 100 words)
– There should be Three Chapters in Project Report as per follows:
CHAPTER I: MANAGING PERSONAL FINANCES (approximate Pages 2-3)
– Introduction and Rational of your Project Report.
– Investment Goal, Objectives, and Philosophy
– Table of QR 1000,000 allocation expressed in percentage bases.
CHAPTER II: INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO (approximate. Pages 4-5)
– Explain step by step your earnings with each type of investment avenues along with relevant evidences.
CHAPTER III: RETURNS OUTCOMES (approximate Pages 4-5)
– At the end, there should be review of portfolio distribution and earnings.
– Compare Return Results with your set Goal. Your degree of satisfaction through your achievement and conclusion.

– Write all relevant sources.
– Title of the Project: See the Front-page layout and sample project.
– The front-page layout is provided at the end. You must strictly follow the layout; it has reserved certain points.
– Times New Roman, font size 12. With 1.5 space.
– Project should be properly bound with professional look.
– The required pages ranges between 10 and 12.
