Assignment Leadership and Management Models
Review the variety of graphic
representations of servant leadership
models and other leadership/management
models listed below. You may search
online for others as well. As you
review the models, consider what
you think are the most significant
differences between servant leadership
models and other models. Then either
create your own graphic to visually
represent your understanding of
servant leadership or revise one of
the existing graphics so that it better
represents your understanding. If you
revise an existing model, be sure to
credit your original source.
Once you have created your model,
compose a brief analysis (250 words)
that addresses the following:
What are the most significant
differences between servant leadership
models and other models?
Define the paradox of servant
leadership and explain where you
see this paradox present in your own
representation.
Based on your understanding of
effective leadership, how do you think
your representation captures those
qualities or characteristics?
APA format is not required, but solid
academic writing is expected.

Assignment Servant Leadership in Diverse Contexts
While servant leadership is often
associated with Christianity and
the Bible, one could argue it is
compatible with most religions and
philosophies and that it transcends
cultures. This assignment presents you
with an opportunity to explore other
cultures, philosophies, and religions
and asks you to think critically
about how servant leadership practices
are apparent in other religious and
cultural values.
Select one cultural context and
one religious viewpoint (other than
Christianity, its denominations,
or something already discussed in
100.0

the textbook) and examine how the
principles of servant leadership are
evident in that culture and religion.
In a 1,250-1,500-word essay, identify
similarities and differences between
servant leadership’s philosophies and
the values evident in the selected
cultural context and religious
viewpoint. Be sure to provide specific
examples of practices and/or values in
your discussion.
You are required to locate two articles
that examine servant leadership from
a different cultural perspective and
two articles that examine servant
leadership from a different religious
perspective. Be sure to select academic
articles from reputable sources that
are 10-20 pages in length. Include
information from the articles in your
discussion.
Prepare this assignment according to
the guidelines found in the APA Style
Guide, located in the Student Success
Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment asks you to analyze
various companies’ mission or
organizational vision statements
to determine how such statements
guide leadership practices within an
organization.
Select a mission statement or
organizational vision statement
from one company that professes to
practice servant leadership and one
that practices a standard leadership
model. Some well-known companies

that practice servant leadership are
Southwest Airlines, REI, and Aflac.
Conduct additional research to locate
others.
Once you have selected two companies,
write a 1,000-1,250 word analysis that
addresses the following:
Compare and contrast the mission and/
or organizational visions statements
of the two companies. What are the
similarities and differences? How do
you think these statements impact the
culture of each organization?
What servant leadership principles
or values are either explicitly or
implicitly apparent in the mission/
vision statement of the company that
professes to be servant-led?
Explain how you see the principles
expressed in the statements manifested
in each company’s public reputation,
and how they treat their employees
in the services they provide, their
marketing, etc. Provide a few specific
examples to demonstrate your points.
Do you think each company is living
out the values/principles expressed
in their statements? Why or why not?
If the more traditionally led company
adopted a servant leadership model,
what revisions to their mission/values
statement would be warranted? Be sure
to comment on your understanding of how
such mission/vision statements can or
should guide a company’s treatment of
its employees and clients.
Include the mission or organizational
vision statements of the companies you
selected in your analysis.
You are required to locate four
articles that support your selected
organization’s mission or vision
statement. Two of the selected articles
must be peer reviewed journal articles.
Include information from the articles
in your discussion.

Assignment CLC – Profiles in Leadership
Presentation
This is a Collaborative Learning
Community (CLC) assignment.
The class will be placed by the
instructor into groups. Each team
member will personally interview one
leader of his/her choice. Examples
of leaders can include, but are not
limited to, former or current managers
or supervisors, educational leaders,
civic/business leaders, and religious
leaders. This interview can take place
via phone, via e-mail, or in person.
To ensure that the interviews yield
comparable results, the team must
prepare a list of questions to ask the
chosen leaders (interviewees). As a
team, choose four questions from the
list below:
What are the most important qualities
an effective leader should have?
What is the importance of trust in
leadership?
What are the qualities you want most in
an employee? Why?
Who has had the most influence on how
you lead? Why?
In what areas would you like to improve
your leadership?
How do your employees react to your
leadership?
Have you engaged in 360-degree
feedback? If so, what has been the
result?
What is the role of effective
communication in leadership?
How would you rate yourself at being
able to communicate with all your
important stakeholders?
In addition to the four interview
questions your team will use from the
110.0
Gradable Items Details Points Possible
above list, as a group, generate two
more questions, for a total of six
interview questions. Please note: Each
team member is required to ask his/
her chosen leaders the same interview
questions so you must decide as a team
which questions you will ask.
After conducting the interview, each
team member will individually create
a leadership profile of his/her chosen
leader within a PowerPoint presentation
(5-6 slides). Be sure to include the
following in your individual leadership
profile:
A slide that introduces your chosen
leader
A summary of the answers to the
interview questions
A description of the leadership model
with which the leader seems most
closely aligned
After creating your individual
leadership profile, the team will then
compile all team members’ individual
slide sets for a group PowerPoint
presentation of 22-26 slides (based
on a four-person group). Be sure to
include the following in your team
compilation of leadership profiles:
A summary that describes any
characteristics of servant leadership
that are displayed by any of the
leaders.
Other commonalities among the leaders,
in terms of values, beliefs, and impact
on the community.
Note: The team compilation will add one
or two additional slides for a total of
22-26 (based on a four-person group).
APA format is required for essays
only. Solid academic writing is
always expected. For all assignment
delivery options, documentation of
sources should be presented using APA
formatting guidelines, which can be
