The Task For this assignment you are to research publically available material on Samsung Group to provide comprehensive answers to the following questions. It is expected each section be answered in 300 to 500 words. Feel free to add diagrams or tables. Ensure that you use in-text referencing. Remember, this is a Turnitin assignment. Do not copy and paste. If you are quoting a reference, ensure that you use QUOTATION marks (“ ”) and acknowledge the source (see appendix 2).
Where possible simply cite material – use quotes sparingly (see appendix 2).

The Topic
Consider the principles discussed so far from our textbook: Robbins et al., (2015). Reflect on contemporary management trends, organisational culture, managing in a global environment, social responsibility and managerial ethics, managing change and innovation, decision making, planning and strategic management. Complete answers for each section should include a mention of pertinent sections from the textbook.
1. Consider the case of Samsung Group 2 (appendix 1 and other information you find). What is the history of Samsung? They have had their ups and downs and there have even been recent issues of their phones not even being allowed on aircraft. 3 You may write about the company’s mission, their products, their future directions as you see it.
2. Describe the chaebol organisational style? How does this effect management practices? How might culture – both organisational as well as national culture affect management practices?
3. What is Samsung’s market position now? How has Samsung been faring recently? (i.e. the last few months). 4
4. How might you change Samsung? Assume you are being given a job interview for CEO 5 – consider some of the changes you might implement. What products would you like to see Samsung focus on? What would your workforce look like? Who are the sorts of employees you might like to hire?
