definition/response essay, wherein you will answer a basic question: “The Lie” is a story about _________. But as with any intellectually founded discussion (like the
ones we’ve conducted in class), this “blank” is not filled in quickly, or simply, and your address of “The Lie” must go beyond the demonstrated narrative so as to
reveal a deeper, more valuable meaning for the text, investigating examples from the story that support a central, illuminating thesis.
Ideally, you have already constructed a “living” draft (a draft in-progress) of this work by addressing the three questions we’ve discussed in class, which are, again:

These and other ideas, fostered in class discussion, may act as your individual entryways into a larger, more holistic interpretation of the narrative as a whole.
