Dorian Gray goes through a number of changes in the book, but it’s arguable that his character or his actual
nature doesn’t really change that much. In this essay, develop an argument about whether or not Dorian develops
as a character.
Focus on the moral sense of the main character. Has mortality achieved its purpose against aestheticism and the
value of art? … And Does Dorian’s moral system change or does it remain static? How do Dorian’s appearance
and the appearance of his portrait support that argument? (He rots on the inside yet remains beautiful on the
