Paper details:
Read the entire book. Focus on the first chapter, “The Things They Carried” and FIVE more chapters. Explain how the chapter you chose relates to the first chapter. Also, use FIVE outside resources to give the book context, i.e. a brief explanation of the history of the Vietnam War and/or the experiences of soldiers. It is important that your essay be one cohesive paper, integrating each of the articles with the book. Do not just list the articles. Your best bet would be to use the library website to find academic articles. Academic articles are those published by academic journals. The librarian, with whom you can chat online, can help you find appropriate sources. Use Chicago style citations with footnotes. A video explaining footnotes is posted under “Modules/ Tools.” There are also links to Chicago formatting and how to determine academic sources. The paper needs to be at least 1500 words.
Roughly two weeks before the paper is due you will submit a copy of your bibliography. It is worth 25 points and the final paper is worth 125. in the annotated bibliography you will list each of your sources (in Chicago formatting). Each source will have a paragraph describing what the source is about. Make sure you also include how the source fits into your paper.
