Oscar Hammerstein once said, “It is nonsense to say what a musical should or should not be. It should anything it wants to be, and if you don’t like it you don’t have to go to it. There is only one absolutely indispensable element that a musical must have. It must have music. And there is only one thing that it has to be–it has to be good.”

By looking reflectively at what we have learned over the course of the semester about what makes a musical “good”, what are your current thoughts about this quote? How would you define a “good” musical? BE SPECIFIC about how you would now define “good” both for the developers who create it, the audiences who participate in it, and the artists that make it happen. (Your response to the prompt should be a MINIMUM of a least three solid paragraphs.)
