Theoretical Approaches

Analyze your own family using the seven theoretical frameworks discussed in the book (social exchange, family life course development, structure-function, conflict, symbolic interaction, family systems, and feminist). Define the theoretical frameworks in your own words and relate them to your own family. Which of the theories is most useful in attempting to explain your family (you may choose more than one)?
Lastly, which framework do you believe best explains the family situation in Room? Think about the relationship dynamics. Explain.
Guidelines: You should have at least 9 paragraphs (one for each framework, one for explaining which one(s) is most useful, and a final paragraph analyzing Room. Make sure to use the websites for this week to gain more insight.
This website is helpful in distinguishing among some of the major theoretical frameworks in Sociology of the Family (structural-functional, conflict, social exchange, family systems, and symbolic interaction). You may see the terms paradigms, frameworks, and perspectives, but they are all the same thing.
