Time Management Statement Essay: Graduate education is rigorous and from the experiences of
Frontier students it is clear that full time study requires a commitment of 40 hours a week while part
time study requires 30 hours per week. This will require adjustments to your current work and family
life. It is important that you take time to consider how you will integrate graduate school into your
current situation. Please write a well­crafted statement about how you plan to fit the rigors and time
commitment of graduate education into your life situation of work and family.
Things I would do:
1. Make my family and friends aware of my goals for school and that it’s going take some time away
from them. Turn off my phone during study time to avoid interruptions.
2. Plan my day. Create and keep track of a to­do list and mark off what was completed.
3. Study in the morning hours before I go to work in the evenings.
4. Plan and use a scheduling system to maintain structure by ranking my priorities from most to least
important to make deadlines.
5. Set up deadlines and write my assignments that are due on a calendar in my room and a pocket
calendar in my purse to keep track of when things are due.
6. Take breaks to avoid burn out or having meltdowns.
7. Maintain a good environment to avoid distractions.
8. Be proactive.
9. Practice and maintain self­ discipline to avoid procrastinating.
10. Maintain a well­ organized routine.
11. Keep track of the places and things where I spend most of my time to avoid time wasting.
