Instructions
1. Select a nonprofit, federal, state or municipal agency or entity. You may select an organization you currently work for or formerly worked at, however it must be a public organization.
2. Review the organization’s website and review any employment policies listed.
Remember that employment policies are any policies that govern the employment relationship, and not just those related to hiring. For guidance, see the sample policies from Module Three.
3. Develop a memo addressed to the Executive of the organization, using appropriate language and tone. In the memo, identify at least five employment policies for the organization. If you have access to the current employee handbook, propose revisions to any policies that you believe should be revised and/or propose new policies. The policies you select should be those that you believe are most critical for the organization. The critical analysis of this assignment should be based on why the policies you select are the most important.
Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the existing policy and explain your recommendations. For example, you may find that the organization is completely lacking a critical policy in some area. In this case, you would provide a policy recommendation, explain why it is important, and provide guidance to the executive regarding appropriate policy language.

It is important to note that you should have a few specific sections of a professional memo, an Executive Summary at the outset should detail the purpose and outcome of your entire memo in a very short, well written and direct summary. You can then have a section that is an overview of the organization, this is really for me as this is an academic assignment and you would not need this if you are working for the client directly. From there having headings of the policies you selected would provide an ease in transitions for your reader. Remember you have a busy client executive who you have to grab at the outset and hook them to read on. Be clear and succinct.

Formatting Requirements
• Memo format, with one-inch margins
• Five single-spaced pages
• Include the following sections:
1. Executive Summary
2. Brief background on the organization, including number of employees (at least generally), mission/values, and any specifics about the culture of the organization that you can obtain
3. Sections for each policy
4. Brief conclusion
