Order Description
This week, we’ve been reading about Canadian nationalism and what it means to be Canadian. The sociologist, Seymour Lipset argued that one the benefits of studying Canadian society for Americans is that we can learn about ourselves as Americans from our similarities and differences. What did you find most interesting in the ways Canadians construct and contest their national identity, including the things we take for granted like flags and anthems and things we may have thought about like coffee and donuts? What aspect of being an American (or Chinese or whatever nationality/identity you may claim) do you understand better or have become aware of by learning about Canadian nationalism?
