Civic and religious traditions in Italy are related to the style, iconography and antique sources and precedents of painting and sculpture of the 14th and 15th centuries.Throughout this period certain themes have been represented by numerous artists to forma visual tradition for later artists. Discuss three of the following traditions: Annunciation, David, Madonna and Child, Equestrian Monument. Select and identify (artist, title, date,location, patron, medium) three objects from each visual tradition

Describe the history and program of the Brancacci Chapel, S. Maria del Carmine, Florence. Establish the iconographic and stylistic difference and similarities used in the paintings executed by Masaccio and Masolino. Include three compositions by each master.
