Trump never create child separation policy problem
President Trump is not the one who created the problem with children being separated from their parents who enter the country illegally. The Democrats have to own up to that and change the law. Democrats in DC are saying that Trump created the problem but he didn’t. Trump, as President, has to enforce the laws that Congress makes. If you don’t like the law then Congress needs to change the law. If this weren’t an election year, I believe the problem would be fixed.
Obama started this policy but Trump is trying to end it.
The policy of separating children from their families started in 2014 and the practice was solidified in 2016 when the ninth circuit court of appeals ruled that children of illegals can only be detained for 20 days. The problem is, a court case always takes longer than 20 days.
This mess first started during the Clinton years in 1997 to enforce a 1997 Settlement with the government which set a nationwide policy for the detention, release, and treatment of minors detained in Immigration and Naturalization Service custody, and remanded for further proceedings.

The policy states that, after 20 days of holding minors, the kids have to be released somewhere to someone, somehow.
Anytime you want to prosecute an illegal immigrant, just as you would a US Citizen, you have to separate the child from the parent. That’s the law, but Obama went soft on this law and gave the adults ankle bracelets and just trusted they would come back for their court date. That never happened.
This idiotic policy created a loophole that sent adults flooding across the border and using children that the majority of the kids weren’t even theirs to begin with. Children are being used.
The Attorney General Jeff Sessions ruled on a zero tolerance policy to prosecute anyone who crosses the border illegally. As a result, anyone claiming to be a parent crossing the border illegally will have their children removed after 20 days.
Trump correctly states that his hands are tied because he has to enforce the law and he’s leaning on Congress to create a law to make real immigration reform.
In terms of processing people who come here illegally, that is the procedure of the policy that is in place that Trump inherited.
Bottom line, people are flooding into this country to get taxpayer benefits for the rest of their lives as long as they vote a certain way and they’re USING children to get here; including MS-13, drug cartels, kidnappers. All kinds of people and we need to be able to separate kids from adults who aren’t even their parents to get into this country.
