Workplace Ethics

Application: Ethics

Does your agency or the place of your practicum have a code of ethics or guiding document on ethics? Is this information easily available to all staff? How is it communicated and reinforced during day-to-day operations?

For this Assignment, you will evaluate guidelines or policies on ethics in the agency where you are conducting your practicum.

To prepare:

· Identify the code of ethics, or a guiding document on ethics, that your agency recognizes. If your agency does not have a code of ethics or ethics guidelines, consider ethical guidelines you believe are important for your agency.

Submit a 2- to 3-page paper on ethical guidelines using APA style format for reference and citation. If your agency has a code or set of guidelines, follow the steps in Option A. If your agency does not have a code or set of guidelines that it recognizes, follow the steps in Option B.

Option A (See Attachment For Ethical Guidelines): If your agency or place of your practicum has a code of ethics or ethical guidelines, evaluate those guidelines. Include the following in your evaluation:

· Describe the guiding document on ethics. Detail the background of the document and if it is nationally recognized.

· Explain how your agency implements the guidelines from this document.

· Provide relevant examples that illustrate how these guidelines are communicated throughout the agency.

· Evaluate the document. Does it adequately cover the potential ethical issues at your agency? Explain your rationale.

Option B: If your agency or place of your practicum does not have a code of ethics or ethical guidelines that it recognizes, do the following:

Specify three ethical guidelines you believe your agency should follow.
List each ethical guideline and justify its inclusion in your list.
