Comprehension: Provide a good overview of the structure and order of the book as it relates the author’s thesis.
Critical analysis: Evaluate the author’s thesis. Is his argument convincing? Why or why not? Do not be afraid to express your opinion. But be sure that the opinion is rooted in academic, rather than spiritual or religious concerns. In other words, avoid statements of faith, e.g. “King is wrong because God says so.”
